Setting Up Your POP or IMAP Email Address in MS Outlook

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook to work with your e-mail account. This tutorial focuses on setting up Microsoft Outlook 2002, but these settings are similar in other versions of Microsoft OutlookŪ. You can set up other versions of Microsoft Outlook by using the settings in this tutorial.

To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook

  1. In Microsoft Outlook, from the Tools menu, select Email Accounts.

  2. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, click next.

  3. Click the Add button...

  4. Select POP3 or IMAP click next.

  5. On the Internet E-mail Settings page, complete your information as follows:
  6. Your Name:
    User Name
    E-mail Address:
    User Name:
    username First part of your email address (everything before the @ sign)
    Incoming mail server (POP3, IMAP or HTTP)
    POP3 or IMAP
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP)

    If your email address does not end in, like, these servers will still be pop,imap or will not work!

    Click More Settings.

  7. Click Outgoing Server tab.

  8. Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and click Advanced tab.

  9. Change Outgoing Server (SMTP): from 25 to 587.

  10. (Optional) If you want to keep a copy of email messages stored on your email provider's servers, in the Delivery section, select Leave a copy of messages on server. Click OK


  11. Click Test Account Settings....

  12. Click Close.

  13. Click Finish


Your Outlook account is now set up.
